Mom. Wife. Artist.
Rachel Pierce is a long-time TV journalist who recently shifted all her focus to her artwork. A daughter of the Midwest, she grew up in the small town of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and went to college in Oklahoma City. While her art classes were a major focus of her studies, journalism won out and after graduation she landed her first anchoring job in Eau Claire, WI. She went on to anchor in Omaha, NE, Des Moines, IA and ultimately ended her anchoring career in Fort Myers, FL. In all she served her communities as a journalist for 19 years, 17 at the desk as a TV news anchor.
Rachel transitioned into art in a very unexpected way. She is very involved in the SWFL community and asked to emcee dozens of events a year. At one event she was a celebrity painter and created a platter to auction off to benefit the non-profit. Everyone was surprised by her talent, and soon other organizations were asking her to paint something for their organization’s fund raisers as well. It did not take long for the commission request to start.
Within a year of selling her first painting the hobby became a second career, selling dozens of pieces and donating dozens more. A few months later she decided to make art her job, leaving TV news. Being an artist also means no more 2am alarms, painting on her own schedule, and, most importantly, being home to raise her four young children.
Rachel, her husband Matthew, their four children, and extended family in the area love calling SWFL home.
This is a short video shot inside my home studio about myself, my art, my passion, and finding your passion. (Update: Added another child since this was filmed!)
